1. First Smart Fence Project To Be Launched Soon Along Pak Border: BSF Chief

3. Piyush Goyal Launched 'AAPOORTI' App Of ‘Indian Railways e-Procurement System
Ministry of Railway and centre for railway information systems organised a seminar in 'Leveraging IT for mobility'.

Guest. Shri Goyal also launched a new app – “AAPOORTI’ mobile App of ‘Indian Railways e-procurement system’

  • provides information and data related to e-tendering and e-auction related activities of Indian Railways.
  • Aapoorti mobile app has also been provided with user manuals of Indian Railways’ e-procurement system. Additionally, it allows users to rate the app and it also takes feedback from app users so the railways could continuously improve the mobile app.
4. 6th Edition of Bengaluru Space Expo inaugurated. 
The 6th edition fo Bengaluru Space Expo was inaugurated by ISRO chairman Dr. k Shivan in Bengaluru on Thursday.
Dr. K Shivan said that ISRO wants to offer manufacturing of PSLV and small satellite launch vehicle along with small satellite to private industry.
A sum of 10,400 crore rupees is earmarked for manufacturing of PSLV launch vehicle out of which 9000 crore rupees worth production will be given to private industries.

5. India-Sri Lanka joint exercise SLINEX-2018 Begins in Sri Lanka.
India, Sri Lanka joint naval exercise SLINEX-2018 was held at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka from September 7 to 13, 2018.
SLINEX exercise started in 2005 was previously held once in two years and now it has been converted to annual event this year onward.

Indian navy ships and aircraft have arrived in Sri Lanka to take part in the joint exercise SLINEX-2018  to be held with Sri Lankan navy at Trincomalee.

        6. 87th Izmir International Tradeshow Begins in Turkey
        India is the Partner Country in the 87th Izmir International tradeshow which begins in Turkey from Friday, September 7, 2018. In this tradeshow India will also be launching a mega business pavilion ‘Source India’ hosting 75 Indian companieswith the aim of tie-ups in order to increase India’s exports to Turkey and other neighbouring countries. 

        The 87th Izmir International tradeshow will be held in Izmir – the third most populous city in Turkey, after Istanbul and Ankara – from 7th to 11th September, 2018. Owing to India’s participation as Focus Country status, India’s National Anthem will be played and the National Flag displayed on the screens put up in the show. Special signage will be erected to lead buyers and visitors to the ‘Source India’ pavilion.

        7. India April-June balance of payments in deficit for first time in 6 Quarters
        India's overall balance of payments slipped into deficit for the first time in six quarters in April-June on large foreign dollar outflows.
        The deficit, a measure of economic transactions between the country and the rest of the world, stood at $11.3 billion compared to a surplus of $11.4 billion a year earlier,
        The Current account also posted a deficit, which rose to $14.8 billion or 2.4% of gross domestic product form $15.0 billion or 2.5 % a year ago. The merchandise trade gap widened to $45.7 billion form $41.9 billion.
